Great starter book for the clueless person. My sister gave me an air plant, and 3 months later seems it's gone. Thought I was doing the weekly soaking, but under water, no. It floated on top. Also learned I had a poor container. Now time to order and do a better job. Got some ideas in mind.
I knew that this would be a short read because I saw it only has 34 pages, but I also thought that there might be some useful information. Honestly, it shouldn't take 34 pages to write basic care instructions for tillandsia. There is no new information in this book. Everything here can be found with a simple Internet search. It is just a care pamphlet, really. I was excited to possibly learn some new ways to display my plants, but even that section was lacking. At least two of the links in the reference portion are broken and useless. I would only recommend this to someone who has absolutely no knowledge of air plants.
Save your money...this is just a tad and I mean a tad more information than you get for free on a care sheet. There is nothing and I mean nothing useful even for a beginner that you can't get for free on ANYONES webpage. Skip this ebook
Love my air plant! I have it into a glass 12 inches long by 6 inches deep. With beach sand in the bottom. And different shells. My air plant like a it in there with good light. Can,t to get another one. So easy to take care of. Just a little water no and then. I got mine at the Philadephia, Pennsyvania flower show. Great place to go to.

I am an air plant addict. I have over 200 in my house. I've been looking for a good book with information and pictures of the different types of air plants. This is the book! I bought one a couple of months ago that was a waste of money. This one was worth every penny and more. Excellent book.

I began my education of trading for a living around 8 months ago and was blown away by how much information and education there is to choose from out there.Survival Guide for Traders brings several key topics into focus and poses important questions that I believe are necessary to understand in order to succeed in this business.The truth is that I hadn't picked up a book since college and the topics covered in this book are crisp and concise.Over all I would highly recommend this book to anyone considering trading for a living.
This is a great book, particularly for someone looking to set up trading as a business. It covers preparation, risk management, psychology, business structure, software for trading...essentially everything you need to get started and maintain a trading business. Everyone with a seriopus interest in trading needs this book.
I have a difficult time rating this book. As I read it, I constantly went back and forth. I would like for one chapter, then hate the next, then like the one after. I would say this book is written for new traders. While the title suggest it's for professionals, it think it would be more helpful to hobbyists. By hobbyists, I mean those that don't trade for a living. Overall, it's well written. It doesn't get bogged down in jargon, but it is little preachy about what must be done and avoided.
I have a book shelf full of trading books. The Survival Guide for Traders always seems to be the one I go back to the most. It offers more solid trading advice than all the others in a format that is readable and useful. If you are going to trade as more than a hobby, you need to set up a business plan and approach it as the business that it is. Great book!
I started investing as a hobby, picking stocks based on what I read in the Wall Street Journal and Investors Business Daily. However, trading is a completely different venture and jumping into the markets with scant knowledge of how to control risk is not the best way to do it. I wish I had this book five years ago when I started trading stocks and futures for real. I read and now understand (in this book) the importance of avoiding "risk of ruin" and proper money management which are key to survival in trading. The importance of always knowing in advance where to get out (for loss or profit) cannot be overemphasized, regrettably newbies to trading (I used to be one) almost always just want to jump into trades without proper risk-to-reward analysis and hang to losing trades too long. Bennett McDowell books - "Survival Guide For Traders" and "A Trader's Money Management System" are must read for serious traders.
I gave this book five stars because there are not many like it and it is a must read for everyone trading from home. Bennett McDowell has done well here educating traders about the importance of setting up your trading (applies to all forms of trading - intra, swing, position) as a business regardless of whether you are trading for personal gain or professionally. He teaches you the importance of a business plan, record keeping, preserving capital, trader psychology and includes everything else a new trader needs to prepare and get their trading business off to a healthy start. There are some very helpful calculations such as calculating trade size, trade size formula using leverage, the two percent risk amount formula. Forms for record keeping and a variety of resources necessary to trade. Do not begin trading until you have read this book. It will make a huge impact on your trading success.

This book gets my vote as the best book for kids ever written. I recently read this aloud to a group of kids from age 4 to 10, and they all found it gripping and hilarious. Probably the biggest fan was a 60-year old grandmother joining the group. The writing is vivid and funny, with irony that comes across just as well to a 6-year old as to a 60-year old. Parts of it were hard to read because of uncontrollable laughing by both reader and audience. Great chapter book to read aloud, or for older kids to read to themselves. On a car trip, we also listened to some of the chapters as read by the author, also excellent (and including a highly original and wonderful song).
Hank has style and character and presence. He's old west, cattle and ranching. He's as comfy as an old shoe. He's all the western values and virtues you'd want from Marshal Dillon, but he's fun and just a little bit clueless. The jokes are a little corny, but the adventures are good for honest laughs and excitement. Maybe everything old is new again, because this is so irony free and so old fashioned and dusty, that it feels fresh and different. If your little reader likes dogs, westerns, goofy adventure, buddy stories or simple but earnest laughs, this could be a good choice.

And what a HILARIOUS world it must be.The Hank the Cowdog series of books were my kid's very favorites growing up.These books made my kids want to learn to read. They even asked for Hank the Cowdog books for Christmas! (Shocking, right?)All the kids liked them so much so that now that THEY are having kids of their own, they're all fighting over who gets to "inherit" the Hank the Cowdog books for their own kids. Well, Grandma's got to have something to read to the grand kids, when they visit so THIS Grandma is KEEPING her Cowdog Books.However, I'm still a good Grandma so I buy them their own set of Hank the Cowdog books as gifts and now the CD sets too. Kids now days spend a lot of time in the car so I get the CD's for them to listen to. The grand kids like them so much they love hearing them even though they've already read them THREE times!
I grew up with Hank the Cowdog, so I ordered this first book to see if my sons would be interested. My 8-year-old laughed so hard, I thought he was going to choke. I'd forgotten just how great this series is; so enjoyable for kids AND adults!
I bought this book for my granddaughter, who was visiting us for a short time. We read from it every day she was here, and she loved it. She took it home so her mother could finish reading it with her ... and she has requested that I purchase other books about Hank the Cowdog. I am certain the fact that her dog is named Hank has something to do with her love of the book, but I think she would like it without having her own Hank at home.
My grandmother loved Hank the Cowdog books. When we decided to do a family trip with 3 households included, I bought 3 sets of the 1st 3 Hank books. We read aloud a few times, laughed about Hank and talked about him. The younger members of the group continued to read on the way home. Enjoyable for us all!
I bought this audiobook to listen in the car with my six yearold son because I had always heard that the Hank the Cowdogbooks were pretty funny and I could never get my ten year olddaughter interested in them. I must say that the whole familyenjoyed it very much (even my daughter who wasn't interested).Some of the humor went over the heads of my kids, but that isthe mark of a really good children's story; it appeals to boththe adults and the children.The story is about Hank the Cowdog who is the self-appointedhead of ranch security. There is a mystery to solve: who hasbeen killing the chickens at the ranch? When poor Hank isfalsely accused, he runs away, feeling misunderstood and abused.He falls in with a pack of coyotes. In the end he must make achoice between his old friends and his new ones.The audio book contains two songs. It has been several weekssince we listened to it, but we all still randomly break intorounds of "Me Just A Worthless Coyote"!
Bought this book for my son who can read, but isn't terribly interested in a lot of books. His teacher recommended this one, and he loves it. To him, it's basically a book about the shenanigans of his own dog and he LOVES IT.

In addition to helping me move through some ongoing personal stuff (rumbling through grief) it also helped paint a picture of how important the palette of emotions are in these polarizing times. Nicely done and strongly recommended!
This is a recording of Dr. Brown sharing her work as documented in some of her previous books at a seminar. Although I read all of her books, her ability to bring it all together into a coherent narrative along with her wonderful talent for storytelling makes this a fantastic experience which I highly recommend. In addition, listening to this wonderful, brave person sharing and being vulnerable, walking her talk, is simply inspiring. Even if you already read her work, this recording adds color and insight and is well worth the investment. I highly recommend it.

Checked out the cds of both "Rising Strong" and "Rising Strong as a Spiritual Practice" from a local library as I prepared for a trip. While both are great, I am enjoying the Spiritual Practice framing and style even more than the book. A bit more down-to-earth and a less-filtered, less-polished approach which is amazing. She weaves in information and examples not found in Rising Strong, offering solid examples along with research. As always, Brene has an amazing sense of humor which helps humanize difficult conversations and concepts. She also offers tidbits of her upcoming projects, which are really exciting and I look forward to sharing both with my family and with those who attend my workshops. Love her candor of "embrace the suck" as she talked about feeling the discomfort of knowing her daughter would be leaving to college soon.
Brene is a wonderful speaker and researcher who humorously shares all she has learned about vulnerability. She also stands strong in her truths and kindly relays them, even when in trying situations. We all have so much to learn from her. Listening to this CD multiple times is warranted to fully take in all presented. It’s great to listen to on car rides.
I am a very big Brene Brown fan and was delighted to find this audio (recent release). I think you'd get a lot out of it even if you hadn't been a long-time follower of hers.
